In the last several years, appointment schedules have become the more advanced tool, offering a smoother booking experience and more powerful features. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>To create a cohesive user experience in Calendar, as of July 18, 2024, the appointment slots feature will be replaced by appointment schedules. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Between now and July 18, 2024, we encourage users to explore and familiarize themselves with appointment schedules. All existing appointment slots will remain active until July 18, 2024, however we recommend creating new appointments using appointment schedules moving forward. Starting on July 18, 2024, the appointment slots booking pages will no longer be available, and all new appointments will need to be booked through appointment schedules. Visit this comprehensive <a href="https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/10729749?hl=en">Help Center resource</a> for detailed information about appointment schedules. </div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Who’s impacted </h3><div>Admins and end users </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Why it matters

These are predefined email templates that can be further customized with company or brand color schemes, logos, images, links and more. <a href="https://workspace.google.com/blog/small-business/new-features-to-get-more-done#:~:text=Helping%20more%20small%20businesses%20manage%20appointment%20bookings&text=Appointment%20schedules%20make%20it%20easier,of%20appointments%20throughout%20the%20day.">In 2023</a>, we took this a step further by introducing the ability to customize an existing template, reuse a custom layout in multiple email campaigns, or create a brand new layout from scratch for Workspace Individual subscribers. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Today, we’re excited to announce that even more users across Google Workspace editions can now create customized email layouts using a new email layout editor that is accessible from the compose screen in Gmail or Google Drive. In the layout editor, you can create a new email layout from scratch or select from a predefined set of email templates, which include images, text elements and buttons. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>You can then fully customize these templates by placing elements such as color schemes, logos, images, footer text and links wherever you’d like.
You can also share a layout file directly from the email layout editor using the Share button. Once another user has edit access, they can open the same layout in their Gmail or from Drive and you can collaborate with them in real time. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmx9O-XKOwAD0j5NspA2nHdUioN3tG9T7ur6KfSB4GYDR4hE309_xZ8F7Yong8yoarODU1xKSWVTtIwTH3twUGBVkVZroJTNJe25ZsN2Kva1AQWfn0K7gF3NC1Q2HupXCE-1ei93YrbKq8bwAhvYg69bURRmhWjRoP-FVTCxA-cqa0xRs4OwvV1iEHjlQ/s960/Create%20fully%20customized%20email%20campaigns%20using%20new%20layout%20editor%20tool.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Create fully customized email campaigns using new layout editor tool" border="0" data-original-height="625" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmx9O-XKOwAD0j5NspA2nHdUioN3tG9T7ur6KfSB4GYDR4hE309_xZ8F7Yong8yoarODU1xKSWVTtIwTH3twUGBVkVZroJTNJe25ZsN2Kva1AQWfn0K7gF3NC1Q2HupXCE-1ei93YrbKq8bwAhvYg69bURRmhWjRoP-FVTCxA-cqa0xRs4OwvV1iEHjlQ/s16000/Create%20fully%20customized%20email%20campaigns%20using%20new%20layout%20editor%20tool.png" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Who’s impacted </h3><div>Admins and end users </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">

This means that an organizer can plan and book client-side encrypted video meetings on behalf of other users and assign those as co-hosts to allow them to join and open the meetings independently from the organizer. Client-side encrypted meetings differ from point-to-point encrypted meetings in the way they always require a host to join first. This task can now be delegated and shared between multiple users without the organizer ever joining the call.

This custom formatting <a href="https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/workspace/next-evolution-of-collaboration-for-google-workspace">smart canvas</a> feature enables you to easily indicate statuses or various project milestones within your spreadsheet. </div><div><br /></div><div>Today, we’re building upon this by introducing preset dropdowns. Instead of manually creating values for your dropdowns, you can insert preset dropdown chips that are configured for common use cases like priority or review statuses. After inserting a preset dropdown, you can use the data validation sidebar to easily adjust the options or add styles. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx88otlwbBUwChWJ7wWBJkdPFe6WOI6a_qhWK-Hgfj60DWdiUpl2um1aFhrZkprkiKmULzFrwdNSVknu1uRrzYvy7l4gZx6MfBKZp79EboD1HqQp1WJmICfkQ3Q41aYz6d8E9qrI95aDNF6sDWaEty8kZYhx2UO4cqjgxtU7neyHeeB-VnI-m5QX3ZDvU/s1278/presetdropdowns2.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Set up dropdown chips more easily in Google Sheets" border="0" data-original-height="794" data-original-width="1278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx88otlwbBUwChWJ7wWBJkdPFe6WOI6a_qhWK-Hgfj60DWdiUpl2um1aFhrZkprkiKmULzFrwdNSVknu1uRrzYvy7l4gZx6MfBKZp79EboD1HqQp1WJmICfkQ3Q41aYz6d8E9qrI95aDNF6sDWaEty8kZYhx2UO4cqjgxtU7neyHeeB-VnI-m5QX3ZDvU/s16000/presetdropdowns2.gif" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Getting started </h3><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><b>Admins: </b>There is no admin control for this feature. </li><li><b>End users:</b> You can insert a dropdown chip by typing “@” followed by “dropdown”. Admins will be able to pre-configure this functionality as on or off for their users with a new admin control. The timeline for this update is as follows:</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><b>Admin control for restricting external calls placed directly to a user via their email:</b> Admins will begin seeing the new control beginning today. </li><ul><li>Note that this admin setting does not apply to <a href="https://support.google.com/meet/answer/12387460">external calls placed to a users’ legacy account</a>. We’re expanding these 1:1 cloud-encrypted calls to allow users outside of your domain to initiate 1:1 calls, making it easier to connect with your external partners and stakeholders. However, to ensure external contact is appropriate, admins can turn this functionality on or off for their users.</div><div><br /></div></div><div><h3 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h3><h3 style="text-align: left;">Getting started</h3><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><b>Admins: </b></li><ul><li>Creating meetings and calling is <a href="https://support.google.com/a/answer/9493952">ON</a> by default in Meet but can always be turned <a href="https://support.google.com/a/answer/9381403">OFF</a>. <b>Note:</b> <a href="https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2023/11/1to1-video-calling-in-google-meet-mobile.html">1:1 calling was launched earlier this year</a> and you may have already turned this off. </li></ul></ul></div><div style="text-align: left;"><ul style="text-align: left;"><ul><li>By default, users can receive calls only from contacts and other users in the organization. This streamlined user experience enables you to reply to any message and create a separate discussion isolated from the main conversation. We also introduced several updates, such as <a href="https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2023/11/streamlining-user-experience-in-google-chat.html">home, mentions</a> and <a href="https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2023/11/star-important-messages-in-google-chat.html">starred messages</a> to help you find what you need much faster in Chat.</div><div><br /></div><div>Today, we’re continuing our enhancements across Chat by improving the in-line threaded experience in spaces. With multiple threads across numerous spaces, we know it can be difficult to identify which unread threads are most relevant to you. In order to provide you with more context upfront, you will now see participant avatars for unread threads in the conversation view. Without having to click to open the thread side panel, it will now be much easier to decide which threads to read and reply to. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-zUsihQTwdV0P0st5T0YKEjhtWPjpf7BxBWBzsBLB8QPYNHuvDMIAl0G0I50KweDet7RbG58_QAFvrapHxmS0BQjputtD1qO9Oi1AvP4-q2Ek3Sl7-M0pT_Ajd5ZvaQ1SP-gOZOvEegsz9BP7CH_0vgYKeCaFYrCoWdp01v4prF4-67q7GJnppmH5-QI/s1436/web%20experience.png"><img alt="Web experience" border="0" data-original-height="370" data-original-width="1436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-zUsihQTwdV0P0st5T0YKEjhtWPjpf7BxBWBzsBLB8QPYNHuvDMIAl0G0I50KweDet7RbG58_QAFvrapHxmS0BQjputtD1qO9Oi1AvP4-q2Ek3Sl7-M0pT_Ajd5ZvaQ1SP-gOZOvEegsz9BP7CH_0vgYKeCaFYrCoWdp01v4prF4-67q7GJnppmH5-QI/s16000/web%20experience.png" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Who’s impacted </h3><div>End users </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Why you’d use it </h3><div>Being able to see the participant avatars for unread threads makes it easier to identify whether a thread is relevant to you. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCsmHgpRRUJHo8pd1-SeLwidwAENsYzkc5DfSJITDfA_gK0Yb_Tw4SwucuHs7HuGAOvxmY7b0DmHA1OVaxxgutQuC-NKX5p8lPkoqaRuz49O4VweYRqsX3kbpl_xv5okh_izVCAsQsWGcknsweHLFoIciZQgsI249AdcVU8SNvjy95VIeV2BTLem28NtU/s1600/mobile%20experience.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="mobile experience" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="745" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCsmHgpRRUJHo8pd1-SeLwidwAENsYzkc5DfSJITDfA_gK0Yb_Tw4SwucuHs7HuGAOvxmY7b0DmHA1OVaxxgutQuC-NKX5p8lPkoqaRuz49O4VweYRqsX3kbpl_xv5okh_izVCAsQsWGcknsweHLFoIciZQgsI249AdcVU8SNvjy95VIeV2BTLem28NtU/w298-h640/mobile%20experience.png" width="298" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Getting started </h3><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><b>Admins:</b> There is no admin control for this feature. </li><li><b>End users:</b> This will be ON by default.
